Remember in September – Daily Post #29 for National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month – I Believe in the Sun Even When it is Not Shining…

My youngest daughter, Alexia, is in her Select Robed Choir in her High School and tonight she told me they are singing a beautiful song this year that she absolutely loves and she said I will love it too.

She told me she can’t wait to sing it and have me hear it, because it is so beautiful. I asked her if it would make me cry and she said it would. She knows I cry easily when my heart is touched by love, happiness, beauty, and deep thought-provoking and inspirational words.

My wise daughter said these words apply to me… and actually everyone in the world.

These words were found  on a wall in a concentration camp after World War 2:

I believe in the sun, even when it’s not shining.

I believe in love, even when I feel it not.

I believe in God, even when He is silent.

These words are witty in the sense that they are ingeniously clever in conception and execution, exquisitely expressing illuminating insights about life, living and always having continuous faith and hope throughout all life experiences and struggles. For when there is life, there is hope…

Those beautiful words were later made into a very beautiful, inspirational, touching and moving piece of music. The entire song was written using only the words from those three lines that were found scratched on the surface of a concentration camp wall. Those three very beautiful, important and meaningful lines are the only lyrics sung throughout the entire song.

Later in my post, I have posted the music video of the St. Olaf Choir singing this song titled “Even When He is Silent.” It is and sounds absolutely angelic and gloriously beautiful. I hope you enjoy it. Let it relax you and give you peace.

If someone in this dire of circumstances can have faith and hope, than I must too. We all must…

I must always remember these words and continue to find hope and have faith from these very powerful, uplifting and encouraging words written years ago and left for all of us to remember, know and learn from, forever and always.

This beautiful angel left his mark on humanity for all eternity when he most likely was close to his own demise. He left a forever lesson for all of us to learn from, remember and be inspired from.

A nameless, faceless, important and wise man or woman taught us how we should always have faith and hope and to love life and live, even when we are faced with the most dire of circumstances, like he was must have been facing, most likely close to his own demise, dying in a concentration camp.

These words are very beautiful, deep, meaningful and wise. They truly touched my heart and soul. IN pray they touch yours, as well.

I must remember these words and be inspired from them always and forever…

I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining.

I believe in love, even when I feel it not.

I believe in God, even when He is silent.

St. Olaf Choir sings “Even When He Is Silent” by Kim Andre Arnesen

The St. Olaf Choir, Anton Armstrong, Conductor, performs “Even When He Is Silent” by Kim André Arnesen. Recorded in concert at Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim, Norway on June 16, 2013 Commissioned by the St. Olaf Festival in Trondheim, Norway (Olavsfestdagene).

This performance was absolutely glorious and beautiful and gave me peace. It gave me peace as I listened to it and felt the beauty and power of the lyrics. I could feel God’s presence in my heart and soul. God may seem silent to us at times, but he never really is. He is always with us . Even His silence has a purpose.

The text was found written on a concentration camp wall after World War 2:

I believe in the sun, even when it’s not shining.

I believe in love, even when I feel it not.

I believe in God, even when He is silent.

The piece is published by Norsk Musikforlag in both SATB and SSAA versions. http://www.norskmusikforlag.no http://www.kimarnesen.com Copyright © 2013 St. Olaf College. Music posted by permission of the composer.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

I am a numerous suicide attempt survivor. Praise God, I am still alive today.

I am a Mental illness advocate and it is my passion to educate about mental illness, increase awareness about mental illness, reduce the stigma of mental illness and the stigma associated with suicide and prevent suicide. I want to and we all must reduce the alarmingly increasing rate of suicides around the world today.

I have made a daily post about suicide everyday throughout the month of September for National Suicide Prevention month. This is post #29 and if you have missed my previous posts, please check them out on my blog.

I decided to make my two last posts be full of hope, faith, encouragement and inspiration because we can survive and recover. We can and I am living proof of that. We shall overcome…

Also, please look at my blog tomorrow for my last post about suicide awareness and prevention. It will be a post filled with educational and inspirational quotes about suicide, life and hope. I will also have one more music video about suicide and hope.

We all need to do our part and do MORE.

The first steps are accepting and understanding others with kindness, compassion and love. We all need to educate and learn more about mental illness and suicide and suicide prevention. Start the dialog and be a voice.

We must all make our voices heard very loud and strong about mental illness, mental illness stigma and suicide prevention. It is critical. It is crucial.

Each life is beautiful, important, valuable, priceless and precious.

We must prevent suicides and save lives.

There is hope…

When there is life there is hope and…

when there is hope there is life.

There is hope for recovery.

There is hope for healing in many different ways and…

I am a living example of that.

I  must continue to always have faith and hope…

and so should you.

I pray you do.

Let us all love and pray for each other every day.

I will always keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Huge hugs and many prayers and blessings to all of you forever and always…

Love, Sue
