Toot Your Own Horn

I honked my horn loudly to make bipolar get out of my way,

but it ignored me.

I honked my horn louder and nonstop to make bipolar go away,

but it refused to listen.

I honked my horn even louder and more intensely,

but it stubbornly remained within me.

I continued blaring my horn at my bipolar,

but road rage soon consumed me.

Eventually, I stopped honking my horn at my bipolar,

and began to accept and embrace it,

learned how to cope and live with my symptoms,

redefined myself and my new life,

slowly learned to love the life I had been given.

Now, I toot my own horn,

for being strong, resilient and compassionate.

Now, I proudly toot my own horn,

for being a bipolar survivor.

Toot your own horn,

and believe in yourself.
