I look for you everywhere,
In every man I meet,
In every woman I speak to,
In the fallen petals of a flower,
In the fresh drops of dew,
In the shining face of the dawning sun,
In the smile on every face I see –
To me, you ain’t just a four letter word,
To me, you mean the world.
I write to share my story openly and honestly about living, surviving and thriving with mental illness to increase awareness, educate, reduce stigma, prevent suicide, inspire, give hope and let God's love shine through me and touch you.
I have given many presentations to share my story, inspire others, increase awareness, educate and reduce the stigma of mental illness and suicide. I have given presentations at a local University, spoken as a certified NAMI presenter and spoke to police officers and social workers for their Crisis Intervention Training. I have also been interviewed by our local newspaper and news station to share my story.
I finished writing my first, very rough draft of my memoir in November. I need to add more to it and edit it a lot. It is a work in progress, but I pray one day it will be completed and I will get it published one way or another.
God has saved my life numerous times. He is always with me through all my struggles, holding my hand and catching my tears. There is always hope and recovery is possible. I am living proof of that. When you have hope, you have life.
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." ~Maya Angelou
