Depression, Anxiety and I – two poems

Depression and anxiety are a cruel selfish pair.

Friends that can’t seem to live without each other.

A random duo ganging up on me when I least expect it.

Thwart my desire to live my life and be social.

Want me all to themselves.

Keep me home, when I should be out with the rest of the world.

Keep me home, when I should be loving the life I should be living.

Instill irrational fears in me so I will stay home and be with them.

Alone in our misery. The three of us together.

Depression, anxiety and I.

Depression, anxiety and I have met.

But don’t you frown and don’t you fret.

For I left them both in the dust.

Loving the single life. I will adjust.

    1. Thank you. I am happy you liked it. I’m sorry I don’t know who the artist is. I’m not very good at giving that photo credit. Sometimes I forget. Sorry about that. It’s not mine. I might have got it on Deviant Art. I’m not positive. I read your poem too. It’s very good. Well done. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend. Hugs, Sue

  1. Hello friend. I just read your post. I am so sorry that you feel this way. Truly we all have down days and many situations that just seem to weigh us down. Feeling down can be tough. However, we do not have to go through it. If I may ask, do you believe in God? God is an ever present help in times of need. God wants us to be truly happy and he is a help that we can seek in times when we are feeling down and depressed. If you can keep an open mind, here is something that you should try: Find a quiet space free from distractions, imagine that Jesus is in front of you, talk to him the way you will with a close friend, tell him how you feel. Beware of sudden distractions when you pray, this is a trick the devil uses to stop us from having focused prayers. You might also get the feeling that God is not there or that you are simply wasting your time, this is another trick that the devil uses to discourage us from prayers. Be focused and tell the lord how you feel. Jesus is there with you and he cares for you, so invite him into your life and ask him to pour out his blessings. When you get the answers to your prayers, do not forget to thank God. Also try to maintain a relationship with him, keep telling him how you feel, keep thanking him and finding out about him. This way he can remain in your life and continue to work his miracles.

Whenever depression comes knocking, remind the spirit of depression that you are the creation of the most high, whose abode is a domain full of royalty. You are important, you matter too and you are strong enough to storm through bad feelings. I hope you give God a try. Good luck and God bless.
